That being said, there are some things that a bathroom designer simply cannot do. For one - though we'd all wish this were true - the washroom is not going to clean itself. It is important to realize that keeping the room clean will work wonders in maintaining its appearance.
It is also important for home owners to recognize that bathroom designers cannot make a space the size of a closet to become the size of the universe. There are limitations here which inhibit that particular room from looking a particular way, so you must remind yourself that your and the designers expectations must stick within that limit.
Lastly, it's important to be able to describe exactly what it is that you are looking for when you have your room designed. Remember, a home designer is not a mind reader. If you cannot describe it, they will need to simply guess and ask you for clarification as much as possible.
So, just what can you expect from a professional bathroom decorator and designer? You will receive a whole new look to you washroom that is truly a work of art. They will make that room over so wonderfully that you will wish you could drag your mattress into that room and spend your nights in there. A good professional bathroom designer will also have a color scheme that WORKS- no clashing or ugliness. Light and design will also play a major role when ever possible.
Professional designers do also try to stay "green" and earth friendly where ever possible these days, thanks to global warming threats. They will most likely choose paints and other materials based on their "green"-ness, where ever possible.
Once you have decided on a bathroom designer, plan on having him or her stick around for any where from 30 minutes to 3 hours. This solely depends on the type of discussion that you are having with him or her, and how well you are able to express what you want for the room.
The designer should also be able to give you a final estimate of the cost, describe exactly when and how the contractor for the job will be introduced to the scene, and you two will also be able to chat about the budget you have for the project.
To end this article, I leave you with some warnings. If you're anything like me, you feel as if you do not have one artistic bone in your body and have no idea what you want your washroom to look like. Do not, in any circumstance, tell the decorator that you prefer the color "pink" and then give them free reign. This is almost definite way to drag yourself into a disaster scene. Be sure that, before hiring on a decorator, you are able to provide at least SOME direction. If you do not like a color or pattern or texture that they suggest to you, say so! They are not going to have their feelings hurt' remember, they are only trying to help deduce what you like so be as honest as possible.
